Health
Over the Thanksgiving break my mother's side of the family had a surprise party for my Uncle. My Uncle used to be a bodybuilder when he was in high school and then the Army and he won the Mr. Pittsburgh and Teenage Mr. America. And ever since then he has told my family and I that it is so important to live a healthy lifestyle. He told us that health is seventy percent nutrition and thirty percent exercise and he has lived by that saying ever since he was young. He also told me that if I want to have feel well, have longevity, and stay healthy that I need to have a good nutritional diet, exercise regularly, and just think positive. I have been listening to his words ever since and must say that it is working quite well.

Striking and Fielding Games- Teach or not?
When you hear someone talking about striking and fielding games, what sports do you think of? Probably baseball or softball I would say you'd think of. I heard that striking and fielding games might be taken out of the curriculum for Physical Education. I would agree with them doing this because those sports have a lot of standing around and they encourage us not to teach sports/activities where the students stand around a lot. And also with these sports you are not involved unless you are batting, or the ball is hit to you. I still like these sports but too much standing around. Let me know what you think.

Physical Education
When I was in middle school and high school I always thought that Phys. Ed. class was a time to play sports and just have fun. It wasn't until I came to SRU that I realized it was a lot more than that. I learned about the fitness components that can be done, the technology that can be used, and so much more that can be taught. I found out that I could teach a whole class period about lifting and fitness components of Phys. Ed. instead of the traditional method of teaching sports. Since I came to SRU my view of Physical Education has changed and hopefully we can change the views of the rest of those who used to think like I did.
